Geography In World History
Having a working knowledge of geography is of vital importance in a class that spends so much time on the history of locations that few of the students have any experience with. I will often refer to societies in terms of their location on the current political map (i.e. the Persian Empire was started in current day Iran), which requires basic understanding of current countries. Unfortunately, due to the overwhelming amount of information that geography teachers are expected to cover in this district, this is knowledge that few students have. One of the many ways we try to remedy this is by giving students as much information as possible at their disposal. Below are a series of charts that give students visuals to help with the regions we will refer to along with world maps from certain time periods in history. Please do your best to study these while preparing for tests.
